Catching Up

Please scroll down for more posts added. I went ahead and back dated them to keep things in order. Enjoy!

Ode to my Honda Civic

You have been a good car. I remember when we first met. I had just returned from Africa and was too overwhelmed to even call you mine. You were beautiful. Red with tan interior. I was a first time driver of a new car and very particular. I would not let anyone eat in you. I think it is safe to say I was a little over protective. I would not even let food in you. I can still remember the looks I would receive when I would get out at the drive thru and put the food in the trunk. I will not forget the many rides we took together during my college days. Good memories! You even attended my wedding. You endured the decorating and carried Billy and I away as a newly married couple. You continued to be faithful throughout our marriage. I remember packing you full and evacuating for a hurricane. It was a long 24+hr trip, but you and I did it and made it safe to Austin. After having two children we started driving you less but still knew you were strong. Billy and I both would take you back and forth to work and you always got us there. You have been a great car. I am saddened to say that your taking us places is no more. However please know that I will be forever grateful for you service and loyalty. Thank you for being God's instrument in keeping Billy safe. You will be missed.

God is Good

Above is the opposite side of the car from where it was hit (the passenger rear wheel) Not sure where these dent came from. Think the frame must be bent.

Monday Billy was in an accident. He was coming home from Pearland and was hit by an F 150 truck who ran a red light (probably going 50-60 mph) He was hit in the rear driver side of our Honda Civic. The force sent the car spinning and thankfully the car did not hit anything else and Billy walked away with only a bruised wrist. God definitely was with him and I am so thankful he is okay. We were all pretty shook up and it was a long afternoon sitting in the ER awaiting X-rays. Billy parents came over and took care of the boys while I went back and forth from the hospital and home checking on all my boys. I am so thankful for Bill and Diana and all the help they have been to us. Thank you Papa and Nana! Billy is suprisingly doing well yet still is pretty sore. I am just soaking in my reminder that any day can be our last and how close I was to losing my husband. God is Good!!

Andrew 5 months old

5 month chair pictures.

I had trouble getting the chair picture. Andrew just kept wanting to "eat" the elephant. He was not too interested in smiling.

Andrew has found his toes can reach his mouth.

The preferred position of Andrew when we rock him

Nana captured this sweet moment while I was at work. After some pleading on Logan's part Nana finally let Logan feed Andrew his bottle. Logan is giving him a kiss as well. Logan is such a great big brother and loved getting to feed Andrew.

Andrew and Logan having fun jumping.

Andrew's cute little tongue grin. And no his arm is not stuck Andrew likes it this way.

Andrew loves to do whatever Logan is doing already. Logan was so sweet and let Andrew watch him play on the computer and was even sweet to him when Andrew dropped his toys on the keyboard. I hope the sweetness continues but know the rough play is coming.

Wow five months already! ( I have a feeling I am going to say this everytime) Andrew is still a very good baby. He loves to sit and watch Logan and even when Logan forgets to be gentle Andrew just takes it with a smile most of the time. Andrew had his first full blown cold this past month. Poor little guy handled it pretty well. It was terrible to hear him cough. He is getting better and better with eating rice cereal. The other night Andrew was fussing after I thought he was done. I decided to give him more. As I was giving him a bite Andrew clearly said "mmmm". It was too cute. He has mastered the tummy to back rolling over but still working on the back to tummy. He can do it but still needs a little help. Andrew has found his tongue. If his fingers are not in his mouth his tongue is out. Andrew is also become our little reacher. He loves to reach for everything. No more trying to do something while holding him. He loves to "help". He has also advanced in the past month in his "talking". After his 4 mth check up doctor visit and us telling the PA that he was not much of a talker. He decided to chatter the whole way home. :) Not sure what that means for the future but we are enjoying the "talks". After some set backs during sickness Andrew is now back to sleeping better at night. Bedtime is between 8-9 pm awake between 4-5 for a feeding then back to sleep til 7:30-9am. Not too bad. He loves his exersaucer, johnny jumper (which he is learning to really move in), bumbo seat and swing. He is still not the best car rider but is getting better. Lately he has not been too fond of people at church holding him. He is definitely a Mama's boy which I will not complain about. He loves to play with toys and can get anything in his hands to his mouth. He loves to suck on his fingers and fist during his wake time but when it comes time to go to sleep he takes his pacifer. (He seems to not perfer a certain finger or fingers) Andrew likes to be rocked to sleep while he buries his head in our chest. (it is so funny his head is face first in my chest) I know I am probably spoiling him by rocking him but it is one of my favorite things to do as a Mommy and I am just treasuring ever moment of cuddle time I get.

Beach Bummed

I was feeling really "bummed" that we were not able to go see family so we decided to make the best of it and head to the beach. We have lived very close to the beach for the past 7 years and I think this was my second maybe third time to go. It is a lot of fun to be able to drive onto the beach.

Logan was so excited but kept asking where Gramps, Nanalyn, Auntie Am, Uncle Jonathan and Luke were. (we have been talking a lot about our up coming beach vacation in June) He and Billy were out of the car in no time and headed straight for the waves. I was happy to see that Logan loved it and had not reservations at all.

Andrew and I hung out by the car most of the time. Andrew loved the ocean breeze. We did venture out to join Billy and Logan and I got my legs in the water. Andrew however stayed dry. Maybe next time he will experience the ocean water. We went at 2pm and since I was not able to put sunscreen on Andrew I tried to keep him in the shade most of the time. We only stayed for just over an hour, but it was lots of fun. We ended up getting a year long beach pass so hopefully we will get a chance to go again.

BIlly and Logan enjoying the waves

Logan loved the water and the sand.

Billy took Logan out to "catch some waves" while I tried to hold back my nervous Mom feelings. Billy did have a good point the water was only up to his mid calf :)

Logan had to come show me how dirty he was. He loved to play in the sand. I however was not too fond of his love for kicking it.

Billy teaching Logan how to wash the sand off.

Logan loving being splashed by Billy

The beach was not very crowded. It was nice to have our own little section.

Andrew decked out in his beach gear :) Reaching to get down and wishing he could run with Logan.

The Hokey Pokey

This was another dance Logan learned while I was not feeling the best. He loved it! It was great entertainment for us both and he even gets to practice knowing his right from his left! Enjoy!

The Chicken Dance

Last week I taught Logan the chicken dance.(I was feeling pretty bad and was searching for any activity we could do to get some energy out that did not take much on my part) So when Billy and the boys went to pick out Mother's Day cards Logan just had to get me the card that played the "chicken song" I loved it. (it is the music Logan is dancing to) At first Logan thought I was crazy when I was first teaching him (which I don't really blame him) and refused to do any of the moves except the clapping. He now loves it and requests the chicken song often.

Slipping and Sliding into Summer

The summer heat has definitely hit Houston. After working hard mowing the yard Billy and Logan needed to cool off. (yes Logan was right behind Billy all the way with his mower working hard) What better way than to try out the slip and slide Billy bought on clearance last year. :) Logan had so much fun in the water. He was not able to do much sliding on his own, but with Billy's help had lots of fun trying :). Above Logan is so excited to get to try it out.

Logan ready to slip and slide

The push method worked well too.

Billy and Logan just enjoying being cool in the water

Billy showing Logan how to do it

"Daddy it's your turn"

Loving the water

Daddy in action

Logan sliding in with a splash

This is just a random picture I took yesterday while we were outside playing. It was so nice to get back outside and play. Yea we are all well again! I was trying to teach Logan how to stop the ball with his feet and not his hands. It was too funny he walked over to the car put the ball with his hands by the wheel and then put his foot on the ball. Not really what I wanted but hey he was using his surrounding to his advantage and knew the wheel would help him keep the ball still and the car would help him balance. What a smart and funny boy! And cute too!

When I came out to watch and get a little wet myself Logan had to show me how to do it. I love his comment in the end :)

My Little Singing Monkey

Logan has really enjoyed singing and dancing lately. He loves to stand in front of Andrew and perform for him. It is too cute. Here he is singing a song he just learned yesterday. He does pretty good counting down.

Andrew's First Cereal

Ready for cereal. He was fussing a little as you will see in the video right before we fed him. I delayed the feeding because the camera battery died and Andrew was getting tired of his bumbo seat.

Not too fussy to give a cute little grin

"Helping"

"Tastes and feels pretty good"

Helping Daddy

Andrew had his first cereal yesterday at lunchtime. He seemed to like it. He mainly just wanted to "help" with the spoon. He also was very excited about taking a break for water and kept reaching for his cup. After all said and done I think he was wearing more than he actually ate :)

Water break

Mommy's turn to get some help

Update on sickness: Logan is completely well and not liking that everyone else is not as chipper :) Andrew is better but still coughing some. However is now back to sleeping better at night. I am now sick with a cold and Billy is not feeling 100% so please continue to pray that we are all feeling better soon. Thanks!
